Maria Brogren hired as Payment Scheme Manager at the NPC

The NPC has strengthened its secretariat with a Payment Scheme Manager. The role will be filled by Maria Brogren joining the NPC in the beginning of 2020 from Skandiabanken where she has had the role as process owner for clearing and settlement and AML. Before joining Skandiabanken in 2015, Maria spent two years at Bankgirot, being responsible for all of Bankgirot's interbank products, including its instant payments platform, BiR.

Maria has a long experience from the banking community, mainly in payments, payment flows, clearing and settlement and payment infrastructure. Over the years, she has gathered extensive knowledge of payment systems on both a Nordic and a European level.

At Skandiabanken Maria has, among other things, been responsible for handling the settlement arrangements with the Swedish central bank’s settlement system, RIX. She handled Skandiabanken’s Target2 and SWIFT relations. She has participated actively in all major initiatives related to future payments such as P27, TIPS, the T2/T2S consolidation project and SWIFT ISO20022.

At the NPC, Maria’s main responsibility will be to lead working groups, support groups and task forces regarding payments and schemes in order to ensure that progress is being made. Further to produce decision material for the Scheme Management Committee, General Assembly and Board, as well as administration of members, to produce information for members in writing and at meetings and to produce NPC Documents; new Schemes, internal rules, payments rules.
